 I am 33, I have been heavy all my life. I started to train 7 years ago, while I have made a fair amount of progress I still have a lot of bodyfat I seem to never loose. I enjoy working out as a means of stress relief as well as for the health benefits. I have wife and soon a little one at home as well as 7 chihuahuas and a weiner dog.


   Health & Fitness Goals - Achievements:

 I started in 94 able to press less then 95 lbs. Now I am over 225. I can run(which I never did as a child). My best exercise are shrugs(365), deadlifts(315). I really want to loose 60 lbs and get leaner. UPDATE!!!!! Shrugs 445x 10 reps, deadlifts 335. Bench 250x 6 reps! UPDATE!!!! Past few months have seen new PR Shrugs-535x3 Deadlift (7-9-03) 375x3 and 405x1!!!!!! NEW PR for Deadlifts was 425x1 a few weeks ago...back in july! New update: IN dec of 05 I hit 325 for bench 455 for squat and 475 for deadlift. I am planning to have a Lapband procedure in late summer early fall. Wow update time as of sept 8 2006 I will undergo gstric bypass surgery. IT is OCT 2 2006. Almost a month since i had the surgery. I have lost 42lbs so far. I feel great and will update as needed.

 Not trying to be mean but do you work your upper & mid section at all, just look's as if after 7 year's of training you have'nt gained a real physic in this area.

 listen man I know alot of people may not agree but maybe you should try Hydroxycut or Xenodrine it helped my brother alot but theres alot of cardio invalved man.And youve probably heard this alot too you gotta eat right lots of protein low carbs, veggies,and most importantly H2O.Last but not least willpower I know its hard but Im sure youll get by GOOD LUCH GOD BLESS.Oh and congrats on the new baby!!!

 Wow man those are some incredible gains. I cant wait to get there. When i started benching, I could not lift 135lbs for more than 7 times COLD! After 3 months i was up to 225lbs after 4 sets, talk about hellish increases. Problem is this damn fat on my body. Ill be tryin to lose the fat right along with ya brotha...

 I think that you need to lift heavy first and foremost as you need to build muscle...cardio also but to a lesser degree. Diet is key...

 I can hit 60lb DB for 5 good reps that is usually as my last set after hitting barbell curls first so I am not too sure what I could do if I went with DB first.

 ok man one thing you gotta learn is it deosn't matter how much weight you bench or how much you can deadlift or anything. The thing that absolutly critical is how you do these workouts I know people in highschool that could make you srceam with a five pound weight. My whole point here is if you say you've been doing this for seven years there shouldn't have been huge changes, but extreme changes dude you should be absolutly masive after seven years. Unless it hasn't been seven years straight thrue and you've been on and off. After weight training for so long your body will naturoly start to cut down on you bodyfat because it is using it to burn calories and for protein at the same time so in all honesty I'm realy having a hard time seeing how your body looks at this present day and by all means I'm not saying that your lieing, but I'm just alittle puzzled

 So having a 19 inch arm and 30+ inch thighs is not massive? Actually I have been training for 11 years now. I bench 325, deadlift 455 and squat 450. I curl 125x4 strict curls, I shrug 605x4 strict...I am strong. I just eat a lot and have other issues that are ongoing that prevent me from doing cardio and such but that is not an excuse. I just do not care if I look like a bodybuilder is all. I want to be strong. that is my goal.

 ogono I am not getting the Lapband Procedure. I am having gastric bypass and I am not sure what if any effect it will have other than droppingme down a weight class or three. I may lose some muscle but according to the studies and other folks that have had it there is not as much as others think in terms of muscle loss.

 Hi 7707, I have a constructive suggestion to improve FREE TRAINER's printable daily workout sheets that I take with me to the gym....Make a small picture or 'stick-figure' showing basically what the exercise looks like next to the name of the exercise. I think this would definitely help beginners like me that many times can't remember exactly what the exercise looks like by the time I get to the gym and can't check the description on the computer. I draw these 'stick-figures' myself, and sometimes add a comment like, "overhand grip", or "pause 2-seconds", etc.

Just a suggestion.

 hey i lefted pretty intencely monday and took tuesday off. Still kinda sore today. would it benefit me to go ahead and lift today or just give my muscles more time to rest? also i run 1 mile before and after i work out. Is that ok or should i back off on the running?
