 Training Basics 

 The calves are a very stubborn muscle to train. It is a fast twitch muscle which means that you have to train it very hard! You must shock the muscle basically, many of the advanced training principles are very useful for this. There are a few things that you should keep in mind when training calves. You must fully stretch the calves at the bottom portion of the repetiton and contract them in the full range of motion. It is recommended that you hold the contraction for a few seconds to really stimulate all of the calf muscle tissues. There will be a build up of lactic acid as you perform the repeptition, however this is the point where you must do a few more reps to get results. You can apply the rule of 'no pain, no gain' to calf training. If you want results you must do 12 to 15 repeptitions. Remember, train your calves like they are any other body part, do not put them aside.

 
Beginners should always do the basics in their early training. For the calves, you will build your foundation with standing calf raies followed by any other calf training exercise which targets the calf as a whole. Remember again, form is very important!

 The
Average member should remember to train the calves similar to the beginner. In addition, to target both areas of the calf equally and effectively. The use of machines is recommended to focus on form and stimulation of the correct muscle tissues.

 Individuals preparing for
Competition must take into consideration attaining detail as well as patching up weak spots. It is very important to maintain the basic moevements in your training; however implement the addition of movements which will bring out detail.
