I drink 2 protein shakes a day, but I like to make a few at a time and store them in the fridge at work so they are ready when I need them. I want to start adding glutamine to them, but is it water soluble or is it ok to pre-mix my shakes with glutamine and let them sit for a day?

Wasted on what? pre-mixing...or glutamine itself? Everything I've read, glutamine is the 2nd best supplement you can take other than protein...I haven't done much with supplements in about 3 years though.

Glutamine is crap and glutamine peptide is also a waste but better crap.
BCAA's is a better bang for your buck but again a waste. Just eat whole food and I hope your protein shakes aren't just whey because again another waste IMO. Other then PWO whey is a waste IMO and at that I don't use it for PWO I use Milk Protein Isolate which is a more Casein based with some Whey 80% Casein 20% Whey like Milk. Some people think Whey is the second coming I think it's a waste. -------------- Knock-Um Down & Keep-Um Down! http://www.freetrainers.com/FT/jsp/Message.jsp?f_ix=15&t_ix=1609 Squat 285 Deadlift 355 Bench 260x2 |

ok...um...what do you suggest then, I understand that popular doesn't make it true...but multi-vitamin, glutamine, and protein seem to be the staple supplements of the supplement world. obviously whole foods are the best thing, but are there any supplements that aren't "crap"?

I like German Creatine Monohydrate, Beta Alanine, Fish Oil, Casein based Powders, a good powders carb for PWO and Vitamins.
BCAA's is good on a low calorie diet. Cissus seems to work good and has research to it. -------------- Knock-Um Down & Keep-Um Down! http://www.freetrainers.com/FT/jsp/Message.jsp?f_ix=15&t_ix=1609 Squat 285 Deadlift 355 Bench 260x2 |

Some studies show that oral glutamine is degraded in the stomach, and it would take astronomical amounts to get the benefits from the amount recommended. In simple words it is not cost effective.-------------- Baseball is the only field of endeavor where a man can succeed three times out of ten and be considered a good performer |

============ Quoting from pensfan: doesnt glutamine help recovery and is whey really a waste of money-most people swear by it ive been taking both for a year. ============= No Whey isn't a waist as it has it's purpose but for me it is because it dose not period dose not make my recovery faster then MPI and neither does taking tons of BCAA's around my workout. I eat and I eat and I eat and with some MPI PWO and any damn time I please I recover great. Whey doesn't speed my recovery it leaves my hungry real damn fast. I'm not only on this about Whey. -------------- Knock-Um Down & Keep-Um Down! http://www.freetrainers.com/FT/jsp/Message.jsp?f_ix=15&t_ix=1609 Squat 290 Deadlift 355 Bench 275 |

Whey took over the market with hype and fanfare as the ultimate protein source. Though good, studies are showing that proteins like micellar casein are actually better.
Milk has been a staple of bodybuilders for years before whey. There were many very nice physiques built using food. -------------- Baseball is the only field of endeavor where a man can succeed three times out of ten and be considered a good performer |

I love Milk and the only time I don't use Milk for MPI is PWO and only becuase I don't want Milk sitting around that long and end up warm or bad.-------------- Knock-Um Down & Keep-Um Down! http://www.freetrainers.com/FT/jsp/Message.jsp?f_ix=15&t_ix=1609 Squat 290 Deadlift 355 Bench 275 |
