Back with renewed focus...Day 1 of 33..
I have a renewed sense of purpose after meeting with a highly respected and knowledgable fitness consultant. My %BF came out at 23% (actually better than i thought) and this was based on 8 caliper measurements! She felt I had good muscle development **blush** and was on the right track with my nutrition and exercise. In other words, I was doing a great job at maintaining.
However, She felt I was totally sabatoging my efforts on the weekends (yes I knew this, but it's always useful to have it put back at ya) She also felt I was doing way too variety on the excersize front and need to focus on a single goal.
Sooo...I've thought long and hard about this and have decided to make getting lean and strong my only goal for the remainder of the year-or until I reach my percieved target. This means not doing a Tri this year and focussing on diet and wt training. I'll still do my swimming, but just 2X per week. She also felt I need to incorportate some better stress relieving activities. I thought my workouts were my stress relievers, but apparently i need something that doesn't send my heart rate thru the roof....this one will be hard! I'm thinking a yoga class (not hot yoga) would probably do the trick, or learning how to meditate--OMG this one will be tough!
I would like to see how I look and feel below 20%BF and I now have a good sense of how to get there....but it will take some serious dedication...as in bye bye beer! I pretty much knew all of this, but really needed the confirmation.
We also discussed how I felt that my weight was high, but she felt that I would probably look pretty lean at about 155 (so less than 10lb to "loose") as long as I maintained/increased my lean mass and lowered my %BF, so that was encouraging as well.
I've set myself a short term challenge of 4 weeks of "soft core" training/nutrition. This will be a transition period to adapt to some nutrition and exercise tweaking.
So today marks Day 1 of 33 (start of my next holiday) My biggest sacrifice will be NO BEER for the next 33 days. I've been told that the beer is messing up my hormone levels and is likely killing my efforts to drop BF around the abdomen. This is longgg overdue!
