Bad Bettia....2/14/07
Okay everyone always talks about what good days they've had, but I have to talk about the bad days too!!!
After all, fitness isn't always made up of great workouts, eating perfectly and constantly hitting our goals without any stuggle behind it right? I struggle fitness on a daily basis...
Valentine's Day - The much overrated day that most of us human being succumb to one way or the other, myself included. Full of flowers, chocolate roses, dining, kisses, hugs, and sometimes more if you are lucky. :)
This Valentine's Day was a truly unique one for me in my adult life. It was the first Valentine's without a significant other or even a friend of the opposite sex to spend it with. This Valentine's Day, the true Valentine's of my heart surrounded me, my children and boy were we bad.
THE RESTAURANT - This was the first mistake. My daughters got me all dolled up and ready to hit the town! We went to this fantastic Greek-Italian family owned restaurant which was fabulous, but it totally killed my diet that day. Italian = pasta, bread and lots of it!! Greek= Hummus, Pitas (more bread) I was dead once I walked through the door. The food was, as usual exceptional, and that was just the appetizers, bruschetta at it's best, hummus & pitas, spanakopitas...
Then came the main course -Medeterranian Pasta Allo Pollo with creamy garlic sauce....it literally melted in my mouth. Had a glass if White Zinfandel to top it, which I haven't drank in well, since the hospital and treatments. Actually if I think about it, I hadn't drank since the last time I was in Las Vegas, Jan. 06.
THE DESSERT - I was hosed from the start so thought, what the hell I am going to eat and eat good. They had the best Tiramisu (spelling) I have ever tasted, but man was it packed with rum! Plus I tried a piece of my daughters delicious Baklava..haven't had that in literally ages.
THE COFFEE HOUSE - Think I was done yet, oh no, not this bad-ass! We had to go to our local Coffee house and listen to music while I sipped on yes, an actual 2% milk triple shot mocha latte with extra whip cream.....
I was dead and felt like Fat Bastard days again walking through the door at home.
I would have to say that this was one of my best Valentine's Day's ever. Especially considering that it used to be a former wedding anniversary of my kids dad and myself, but they changed my whole outlook on it again.
Now after a day of rest and basking in my glory of binge eating I will be back at the mill again tomorrow ready for a new day!
