I felt wonderfully rested this morning after my weekend at the river where we basically did nothing but eat. I had my yogurt-berry-protein preworkout shake at 5:00 a.m.
Got to the gym at 5:20, waited until 5:30 for my partner, then started without her. She caught up with me as I was completing my first set of deadlifts.
Regular DL's: 2 sets, 15x115 each
Step ups: 2 sets 15x20's (each leg) superset with one arm shoulder press: 2 sets, 1st set: 8x25's + 7x20, 2nd set: 6x25 + 9x20. Confusing? For some reason the 25's were a bit much for me, so when I couldn't go any further with the 25's I switched to the 20's.
Narrow grip pulldowns: 2 sets 15x60
Superset with reverse crunches, 2 sets of 20.
The last set of exercises in these workouts is always a welcome relief...still working hard but mellow in comparison to the first two sets.
I had a bad weekend dietwise--you know those little brownie bites they sell on huge platters at the supermarket? My friend brought these on our trip, and pretty much as long as they were sitting in front of me, my hand kept reaching for them and shoving them into my mouth. I had little control, it seemed, somebody else was controlling my arm movements, and my jaw, I guess--then swallowing is 85% reflex.
