Monday....reworking my bad running form...
I've always had very bad running form, I tend to run on the balls of my feet. This has let to multiple injuries along with bad caluses and continual loss of my big toe nail...yuck! Sooo, I was talking to a marathon runner (he's done over 50 of them and often finishes in the top 10%) He's willing to come out and watch me run and asses my gate, but this won't happen until the end of the month as he's currently training or his next marathon. In the mean time he suggested going for fast walks and then transitioning into a run with the same gate (i.e. heal/toe). Since I need a simple workout for Mondays (since I already have Pilates and swimming) I figure this would be a good day to try this drill.
I went down to the lake and did a 3km route of mainly walking with some running (heal/toe). Was it ever tough! At first it was really hard not land on the front of my food, but eventually it began to feel more natural. The great thing was that my toes weren't banging into the front of my shoes and the balls of my feet weren't aching when I was done. However, this is going to be a tough transition!
Pilates at 6pm, Swimming at 8pm. Diet still going well except for the beer on Saturday and the ribs on Sunday, but I was still better than usual for a weekend!
