One more thought about running

I'm doing a dual exercise and running program.  I am scheduled to run 5 days a week - same amount of time each run.  I have a friend who is an ardent runner who said that the running program is severly lacking and that I'm not going to be able to build any endurance.  One of my goals to is run a marathon this fall.  I conted that the discipline of adhering to a plan is the key for me and that once I am accustomed to running regularly, then I will be able to embark on a more structured plan to build endurance, speed, etc.
