Peaceful Saturday at the gym

My last leg workout of the old routine. I gave it my all...and felt really strong. For the most part I stayed true to the original workout, except I decided to do the supersets with the squats and plie squats. Was not bad at all.

Abs: Crunches on swiss ball holding 6 lb. ball 3 sets x 30;
Oblique crunches both balls; 3 sets, 15 each side
That was it for abs--they get so boring!!


BB Squats -- 4 sets 90x15/100x15/100x15/110x12 supersetted with plie squats 4 sets x 20 reps

Leg Press -- 3 sets 160x12

Leg Extensions -- 4 sets 60 lbs.x15/12/15/10
I was doing 50 lbs. decided I was ready to bump it up. I decided this is the exercise that is giving me a sore right knee, not the squats.

Seated Leg Curls -- 4 sets 80x15 (that last set is my favorite since it is my LAST set of the day).

And since I was behind a day with my cardio schedule, I put in my 40 minutes on the treadmill. The gym was empty, no fighting for equipment so nobody cared that I exceeded the 30 minute limit. More walking than running this time but trying to keep my heart rate up. Best Ipod experience to date.

I took my shower and went shopping. An old man in the health food store stopped to tell me I was the prettiest girl he'd seen in a loong time. So, that's what happens when you turn 45--your admirers are suddenly 80. Still, hearing that feels good from anyone at 45. I had a great workout, great day, feeling really powered up.

Diet: breakfast was a feta cheese omelette with one Omega egg and 3 whites (the dogs love me for these--I have little plates for the egg yolks and three of my dogs wait patiently while I crack the eggs--luckily, dog number 4 doesn't like egg yolks). Steamed swiss chard on the side.

I picked up a carton of Muscle Milk after my workout, since I wasn't going home right away. When I did get home I had a bowl of oatmeal. For dinner, a couple of ribs my bf brought home and some broccoli rabe-rappini. I did buy brown rice at the health food store so I can have more starchy carbs during the week. I tend to have fewer meals on the weekend simply because I get up so much later.
