Rotator Cuff Exercise!
Today my personal trainer had me work on shoulders.
After about 20 reps, I just couldn't do any more, and we had to lower the weights down to like 8 pound dumbells. Even then, I was having major problems.
Then I mentioned (reminded him) that I have problems with a subluxated shoulder.
That was when he taught me an exercise to strengthen those rotator cuff muscles so that the arm bone doesn't get pulled out of socket by my chest muscles (this is not fun and quite painful).
I have no idea what the exercise is called, but he said I should do it about 3 times a week, using very light weight (not more than 20 pounds), and up to 20 reps.
The exercise uses the multi-station, and has me pull the handle across my body, keeping the elbow at my side. Then, switching to pull the handle toward me, again keeping my elbow at my side. Then, switch to the other arm and repeat. Basically, it is just rotating the arm in the shoulder socket so as to strengthen those muscles (no need to get big with them, just tighter and stronger).
I have no idea if it will work, but I'm willing to give about anything a try to avoid the pain and agony. Although, these exercises seem similar to the ones a chiropractor gave me for the same problem years and years ago, so I think it should work pretty well.
