Good God. I want to preface this by saying I like to have a fun time and I hope I bring that to the classes I teach. Keeping things lighthearted and fun is what I hope to do to continue having people return to my classes.
But sometimes I lose my marbles. Today was one of those days.
I teach kettlebells and form, as in any physical activity, is of the utmost importance. And actually giving some real effort is pretty important too.
I have a student who seems to think form is secondary and talking is more important that actually kicking your ass. If you are able to talk the ENTIRE class you are NOT working hard enough. Seriously. Kettlebells will suck the wind out of you and leave you breathless and exhausted.
At the end of the session tonight I almost blew a gasket. I did, however, try to remain calm and said "let me point two things out to you..." I proceeded to explain that shitty form will hurt you.. and that talking the entire hour means you weren't working your ass off. The only part tired on this student was the jaw.
You get out what you put in and if you don't put in the effort, don't expect results.
Rant over.
