well on my way
So yesterday was a weight day for tris and chest. The first chest workout (last week) was unfulfulling. I didn't feel like I was doing the exercises correctly, and the muscles, while it hurt terribly two days later, didn't seem to get a good work out. This week (yesterday) was much better. I felt like I was working the muscles, and though the movements and form wasn't great, it was much better. I'd just like to mention how much I hate dips. Whomever devised them was evil, and probably worked as a professional torturer. In a few weeks, I estimate that I'll have built up enough chest muscles to really feel the workouts, and maybe even start to show physical improvement.
I can't tell, but it seems like I'm slimming down. I've got more of the triangle shape in my core, and I am starting to notice my arms are not nearly as "soft" as they used to be.
Today's cardio really did make an impact on my morale. I tried out an elliptical machine. Took a while to get the movements right, but once I did, I was able to consistently keep my heart rate around 150, and indeed my average over 25 minutes was 149. Actually, looking at the graph (
http://www.sportstracklive.com/track/detail/herald/Running-treadmill/wellness/54621) my heart rate steadily increased to around 160. Amazing!!! Instead of a steady decline, I actually increased my rate over 25 minutes of a cardio exercise. The sweat was pouring off of me, and I really felt like I had a good work out. Not like someone who's an athlete, but something I can honestly say I worked hard for the whole 25 minutes, and I didn't feel like passing out when I was done. Wow!! This really works!
Keep in mind that for the past 15 years of my life, I've led a very sedentary lifestyle. I absolutely refused to go hiking. Any sort of activity that remotely resembled exercise, I stayed away from. Now, I am putting in honestly good workouts. I don't have to make excuses for my performance because my performance really isn't that bad! If my mind isn't playing tricks on me, I'm starting to see physical results from my program. The weights are widening my shoulders and back, and the cardio and ab exercises are thinning my waist. And for the first time since I was in high school, I'm doing cardiovascular workouts that don't make me want to wear a disguise in the gym.
