Personally, I always have a whey protein shake after my HIIT cardio sessions/w glutamine and creatine. If you perform your cardio with enough intensity, than you will create an a stimulus for muscle growth. This strategy has allowed me to maintain my leanness, gain lean muscle and still burn a lot of caloried throughout the day all at the same time. Do you lift weights or just cardio? Cardio alone will not always get you the results you want, you need to lift weights. By the way, weight training burns fat much more efficiently than cardiovascular exercise due to the fact that the more muscle someone has, the more calories they will burn. Muscle requires much more energy for your body to maintain, keep that in mind.
