Are egg yolks bad for you? I heard that this was a misconception and that they really aren't that bad, and that it's better to have them b/c it helps with the digestion of the white. I have also heard that they are terrible b/c of all of the cholesterol. Which was right?

The yolk though knocked for cholesterol reasons has as you mentioned, and glad to see someone doing their homework digestive enzymes in it. So, can be beneficial, plus adds 3 grams to the protein content. A good practice for staying lean yet getting the benefits of the "whole" egg is if you are having say 4 eggs every morning, have 3 eggwhites and 1 yolk.

Egg yolks have gotten a bad wrap. When it comes to cholesterol, a high saturated fat intake is usually the #1 cause of this or it may be a genetic trait that the person may just produce to much cholesterol, NOT cholesterol in food. The fats found in yolks are good fat, such as the monos and polys. There is only 1.5g of saturated fat out of the 4.5g found in a typical yolk. Like bb1fit stated, have 1 whole egg with about 3-4 egg whites.

I have yolks once in a while. I have roughtly 4-7 egg whites a day, and maybe 1 (2max) yolks a week. The yolk is my favorite part.:p I'm so tempted to have the yolk with each egg I have! LOL!
