I figure I should go see a doctor just in case, but have any of you experienced this? I'm not sure if I should be worried or not. If I'm sitting with my knees at about a 90 degree angle to the floor (like regular sitting position) and I raise my leg out straight my knee makes a popping noise like when you crack your kunckles and kinda hurts... I'm not sure if biking recently has caused this? Any help would be appreciated.

That has happened to me my whole life. It doesn't hurt when they pop though. Doesn't seem like you should need a doc for such a thing but then again, I don't know..

When in doubt, see the Doc.

Different sounds mean different things. Some sounds are air in the symovial fluid popping (squiching), some is tendon snapping against the bone, some is bone on bone rubbing. If there is pain involved you should head to a DR just in case.

Lewdog I get the same. Both my knees kind of grind when I go up stairs, do squats etc. I used to play soccer with some guys from work and totally missed a tackle - basically our knees collided at a 90 degree angle. Since then I've had this. Used to get an ache but went to the doc and sent me for x-ray. Nothing major - just wear and tear and told it could stay the same or get worse. Now I'm just conscious of it but if it starts to hurt again back to the Doc i go.
Thankfully, not at the point where I have to wear support tights! Lol. Now that would be a sight.

I had a popping sound (still do) and pain. I had plicas in my knee from a high impact car accident. I had surgery and they removed 2 large plica. Better, but still gives slight problems (think working out helps it of course).

If it pops and it hurts its time to see the doc. If it pops and doesn't hurt, that is fairly normal.
