I'm having troble keeping up on the calorie intake. I'm a hard gainer trying to put on mass. I have no trouble staying motivated to go to the gym, but the diet is killing me. I just get board with eating so much. It feels like a full time job. I try to mix up the foods and eat meal replacement bars, but I just can't seem to keep up with the quantity.

Any suggestions are appreciated

I keep a journal with me at all times and a picture of what I used to look like, or I just get on FT and read the success stories. Anything that helps, buy a scale, make your meals ahead of time (I do ours on Sunday nights) Also yes it can seem like a full time job, but the results are well worth it. Make yourself got to the gym, you will get into it once you are there. Be careful of those replacement meal bars, some of them are not what the advertise to be.

Thanks for your input. You've obviously found several ways to keep yourself going.

Thanks

The photo works for me as well! Put a photo of where you are now with the words "Do I want this?" next a photo of where you want to be with the words "Or this?". Make copies and hang them everywhere :) Computer monitor, refrigerater, pantry, bathroom mirror, etc. Big time motivation. I have the opposite as you...I'm losing weight. When I want to go nibble even though I'm not hungry, I look at the picture, and I don't want the food anymore. Could work for you the same way, but motivate you to eat the food.

Here is one mental strategy that may work, DON'T consider yourself a "hardgainer". That is setting yourself up for failure. I hear this term used so many times, and it is to much of a self-defeatist attitude. Just think to yourself, "damnit, I am going to be a monster, it may take time, but I want it bad enough, and I will make it happen". People overlook the mental aspect of building muscle TO many times. Just keep giving your body a reason to grow EVERY time you go into the gym and let everything else take care of itself. It may be hard to consume a lot of food, but like I said, if you want it bad enough, you will find a way. Good luck.

Try adding a big PB&J here and there and maybe carrying a thermos with portein shake in it. Every little bit counts. When you find yourself idle, eat something.
