i am new to the site and love it but had a question i was in a motocycle accident and hurt my back and now my back is healed (as far as the doc says) ther is still pain in the very low portion of my back and the doc said it is just a bruised bone or muscle and it should heal in time but i don't want to do sit ups for one it still hurts and for two idon't want to mess anything up so is there anything else i can do for abs and low back so i don't have to lay on it in a sit up motion thanks

Maybe try using a crunch type assistant ( I mean like the ab roller or something like that in the gym.

Seing that you are just healed I think the best advice you can get is from your therapist, as she/he knows exactly what was fixed.
Also welcome to freetrainers and good luck in your exercise routine.

I agree with checking with the doctor. Crunches shouldn't hurt. I find that a fitness ball forces me to use my abs instead of my back. That might help.

I used the fitness ball today, what a great AB workout and no strain to my back at all. Try it, just might workfor you, also you could try using the ropes on the cable machine. They are called ab pull downs I believe. those never hurt my back and my husband tell everyone that is how he got his 6 pack. Good luck to you, back pain is such a terrible thing to have to live with.
