when you do leg raises, why is it easier to put your hands under your buttocks? I heard its to release strain on your lower back, but why don't 'professionals' do it either? (...because it says you should do it when you're a beginner)
does it make the excercise less effectice then?

Oh this is a good question!!!
Hmmmm the reason I can think of is when you keep your arms farer away from your body, the exercise gets harder because of the weight (from the arms pulling you behind).

Does that sound logical?!! (o;
