Hey everyone,

On Thursday I'm leaving to go on vacation...woo hoo! Me and my family are going to our cabin on a lake in Nowhere, South Dakota. We'll pretty much be secluded for 2 weeks except for a little resort that sells jerky and candy.

I'm going shopping for myself pretty soon to buy some groceries so I can stick to my diet. What are some items you all would suggest buying? I can buy some fruits and veggies, but for the most part, non-parishable foods would be best.

As for excercise, that really worries me. I guess I'll bring my teeny little 3 lb weights and then do a bunch of cardio hiking and whatnot.

THANKS!

There are a lot of exercises you can do without weights. That is if you want to continue to workout on vacation. (2 weeks off probably wouldn't hurt muchand depending on your last break might even be beneficial.) You can do dips, push-ups, squats, lunges and all sorts of crunches. Chicken breast (already cooked, or canned), tuna, apples, plums. It's hard if you have to keep things in an ice chest, but if you have a fridge in your cabin, you should be able to take most anything. Even though everyone keeps telling me not to eat too many of them, I always take a handful of protein bars when we travel for emergencies. Have a great time!

Dont worry about the diet or working out......your on vacation. Enjoy yourself eat sensibly and chill out.
Your 1st workout on your return from the vacation will be the best you have had for a long time......a break from the gym has its benefits.

Great ideas Gwin... I love all that stuff. and hey.. I just remembered that I made a batch of jello this morning that I can go eat now...yum I love it. Salmon in a pouch sounds good but I've never been able to find it here. I found crab in a pouch today though, I'll bring those with.

thanks

Crab! Yum! I've never seen that in a pouch! The salmon in a pouch here is the brand with the mermaid on it...Chicken of the Sea maybe?

Think about some healthy fats, like olive oil and some nuts. You can take a tbsp. of olive oil whenever, and have a handful of nuts another time.

Last June when Ron and I were on our honeymoon, we camped out in Rocky mountain state park. I stocked up the cooler with Fresh fruit and veggies that I cut up and put in baggies. I took lots of canned veggies with us and I precooked some of the meat and froze it so along with the ice the frozen meat kept everything cold. We took oatmeal bread with us and nutsand dried fruit to snack on. We had a great time and ate right too.

bb1fit, i'm not exactly looking for ways to incorporate more fats into my diet...i always have trouble keeping to my 16 gram per day limit. but thanks very much for the idea. Good idea Sandy to make some veggies bags. they won't last the whole time we're up there, but then i can snack on dry fruits and nuts... as well as canned veggies

and gwindalyn, i have no clue of the brand, it's already packed and in the car. i'll let you know how it is though!

thanks again all
