I have been doing alot of research on muscular balance as it pertains to posture correction, functional strength, & injury prevention. From what I've found a variance of less than 15% between agonist/antagonist muscles is reccomended. However, what about uscles that do nat have a direct opposing muscle to base acomparison on? Specifically there are two that I'm reaserching currently, traps and calves. First of all does anyone Know if there are any contradictions of the traps becoming to strong? Will over developed traps tend to cause any shoulder problems or will they just increase stabilization as they become stronger? Secondly is it important to keep a strength balance ratio between the gastranomicus & soleus muscles or should the training be based on goal specific adaptation? Also any info on muscle balance in general including links to research sites, articles, etc. would be greatly appriciated. Thank you.
