well I just started this exercise thing a day or two ago and I love it! My muscles hurt so badly wich means its working. The diet is hard though they want me to eat more then I do. Anyone know why you have to eat more then 2000 calories a day I thought that was what was recommended? this says I should eat 2188. I am a 20 year old college student and just hoping this works

Hi Jenna!
I am also new here, but I think I can help you a little.
The 2000 calorie diet is the average recommendation. When you input you weight/height and all that other personal info, the fine people*ahem* here calculated what you caloric intake (as well as carbs, proteins, and fats) should be based on that information.
I will go ahead and say that you should follow it, as long as you follow everything else in your entire program. That extra 188 calories you are seeing will most likely be needed very much!
You think thats bad, though? I am on a gaining regimen and here are my intake values: 4025 calories, 242g protein, 564g carbs, 112g fats!!! I am on my first meal today, and it is brutal! I never thought I could eat so much! lol
Take care,
Rich
