Since I am rather new to this, (been lifting for about 6 months) I was wondering what are the best core exercises for working out. I know that squats are for legs but what about the rest of the body?

The hardest thing to do when you are finished working out, is returning the weights back to the racks.

Well, there are so many, you will get many favorites. For just starting out, I would recommend compound type exercises, to work the entire muscle and shy away from any isolation type stuff. Such as Flat barbell benches for chest, military presses for shoulders(either standing or seated, barbell or dumbbell), barbell curls for biceps, Lying french curls for triceps, and chins for back with bent over rows or t-bar rows. As you mentioned, squats for legs. Good luck, and welcome to FT.

As far as genetics go, the skies the limit. You are limited only by your mental perception of it.

Yes I agree with Ron; heavy compound exercises are the very best ones to begin with (you'll find them in FT's exercise routines).
Good luck!
