Hello All, Your thoughts on these shakes that offer 60 grams of protein per shake? I always thought that was way too much per sitting and the body can only absorb so much at a time. Your thoughts>? I am and athletic 5'7" weigh in at around 195... Thanks!

Its not so much that the body can't absorb that much its that the body doesn't need to absorb that much at one time. Ecentially protein has two destinations once it enters the body, it can be broken down to amino acids & used for various functions or it can be coverted to bodyfat. Since the body can only maintain a certain amount of amino acids at any given time it is best to split your protein intake into smaller more frequent doses throughout the day, this will ensure proper amino acid availibility & also prevent the gain of unwanted bodyfat.

Every person is different, and the myth of limited absorbtion is highly over rated. You body will take what it needs, if it happens to be 30g or 100g. So, why not load up while you can? As long as your body's using the extra Kcals, it won't be turned into fat.
