I hurt both of my knees over the last two years playing soccer. At times they have hurt so bad that it hurts to walk. After my injuries I have had MRIs on my knees, but both times they have shown nothing. After stress or constant activity my knees continue to get sore. Its been possible that my muniscus has problems or I just strained my ligaments, but from the doctors its not for sure. Any ideas to get my knees back into condition so I can play soccer again? Thanks.

Will glucosamine help? I've talked with a few soccer friends and our school coach about my knees and they have all recommeded taking glucosamine. its not sure whether I have any cartlige damage, but do you think this will help? Recently, I have found out that my family has a history on having "long" ligaments, which means I could just be continually hyper-extending my knee. Any ideas on how so fix this problem? Could surgery even do anything?

I hyperextended my right. Crushed the medial meniscus and tore the acl. MM was removed for the most part, ACL reconstructed from bone-tendon-bone graft. Now, arthritis and a mild positioning of the femur over the tibia (I think). Anyhoo, avoid the knife if possible, go with the glucosamine chondroitin, ice, heat, etc.
