Hello, I am new to the board. My weight has been fluctating(180 as poor student, 200 as soccer player, and 240 as poor, out-of-shape worker) and I decided to try and control it to a degree. I found this site by accident and decided this would help.
I did the first two days of my workout plan and have not been able to start again. At first, I had normal next morning fatigue or pain. Now it just feels like my shoulders are on fire constantly. Is this normal and how long does it last? Would eating habits matter?

Eating properly will indeed help you heal up faster. (and keeping hydrated of course) How long have they been "on fire"? I mean, sometimes I'm sore for 2-3 days at most, but if you're just restarting a routine it might last longer I suppose.
Oh and congratulations on making the decision to get back into shape!

The top of the shoulders can give a good burn. Make sure you are consuming good amounts of protein and like drio said stay hydrated. The burn should subside after about the 2nd day.

Thanks for the replies. Four days after the first day of workout, the burning went down. Today(fifth), it is almost non-existant. I will start week two and do the workouts even if things start to act up.
I bought some whey protein stuff at the store, so I suppose I will use that to add protein. I eat a bowl of frosted shredded wheat in the morning and then have like two yogurts or a pastry swirl till lunch. I have one of those slim-fast knock off shakes and a banana for lunch. And good ol' dinner is lean cuisine, healthy choice, or a weight watcher's frozen dinner. I did the nutrition tracker and it said I was like 75% carbohydrates and 1000 or so short of target calories, so the whey may sway that.

I will look to replace the shakes. I only have a refigarator and a microwave at work, so that is why I had them. Plus, they are very cheap. Plus, I am starting to drink a whole brita water jug at work too. That may seem small but that is a big improvement for me.

There isn't much nutrition in those SF shakes. What you can do though is try this. Gard boil some eggs, pre cook some chicken breasts, bring those to work with you, get some cans of tuna also, these are all good real sources of protein. Eat some good Green and fibrous carbs, including oatmeal, in the am instead of the processed frosted shredded wheat. Try the oatmeal with added raisins and some added protein powder. You might want to include some low fat cottage cheese for the protein content also. Add some fat to all this with some natural peanut butter, olive oil, and enjoy eating. Try doing a search on here in the recipe and nutrition area, there are some good suggestions.
If you want some more info email me here. Be glad to get you going again.

Auchia, that's some darn good advise from Carivan there. He may make you eat some whacky stuff.. but "spongebob" has certainly done his homework. =)
