I havn't tried to go vegetarian or anything, but it seems to healthier I am getting the less I crave red meat. Actually I am at the point where I no longer like it at all.. But I do love Turkey and Chicken...

At any rate, I have been eating soy burgers that seem to have low carbs and high proterin (they taste pretty goood as well) and I was just wondering if there are any bad things about them? It seems when anything tastes good, there is always a negative to go along with it haha

So basically, does anyone have any info on them? The ones I have been eating are:
Morning Star (original)
140 calories
fat 6 grams
sat fat 1g
poly fat 3g
mono fat 2g

Cholesterol- 0
sodium 260mg
Potassium 130mg
Carbs 5grams
sugar - less than 1 gram

protein 15 grams

So ya, let's hear it ladies and gentlemen!

I've only heard good things about the benefits of soy. Boca Burgers are pretty good too.

I have also started eating soy burgers a couple of times a week instead of regular hamburgers, and if you compare the two the soy burgers are the better choice. I go one step further and eat them with low calorie bread and no fat cheese instead of regular buns which have a ton of sugar. But I have heard some bad things about too much soy protein, but I don't know how much is too much.

I like it and I eat soy food as well (to change!!) Good fat and easy to cook.
The only thing; watch the sodium intake -just don't drown your burger with ketchup or other sodium full sauce!

The only bad thing about soy so far is that it contains a plant hormone version of estrogen - which is not too good if you are a guy. Studies show that too much soy lowers testosterone levels in males... Eat it moderation.

I used to eat the Gardenburgers but personally I think Morningstar farms products have a lot of suspicious ingredients. I think of any of these prepared meat subs just like I'd think about a hot dog or a piece of bologna; it's a processed protein, probably high in sodium, probably has some stuff in there you don't want to eat every day, but okay for a change every now and then. You might want to look into making your own veggie burgers; there are a ton of recipes out there.

I've read a lot of info about eating too much soy lately. Two main problems; one - if you eat an excessive amount of soy too much iron can build up in your liver, two - it can make you impotent. A vegetarian friend of mine actually had the liver problem, the impotent comment came from an article in Men's Health.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that soy is bad. Just like anything else, everything in moderation.
