I have a "total gym" yes the one chuck norris offers on TV...I also have a nordictrack ski machine... I feel these are great machines... I`ve been translating your program to the "Total Gym"...and working my cardiovascular in the Nortdic track....

Is this oK or should I go to the GYM...

I dont' see why you can't keep working out at home. Personally I really like freeweights; if you continue working out at home you might invest in some of these to complement your program. But I worked out for a long time at home with nothing but dumbells before I ever joined a gym and got good results - then when I started getting bored I joined the gym and got enthusiastic all over again. So there's something to be said for waiting. :)

that is so true. is not wheither you workout at home or in a gym. it is your individual motivation that gets you into it....i workout at home (just because I have 4 kids and time is hard to find)....and my friend joined a gym..I saw faster results from myself I believe because I want to do this I am ready for a better me. my diet plans are on target, but my friend eats everything and anything doesn't care the time or day....so what ever you do to workout just keep your mind and soul in the right place

I worked out at home for a long time when I started out because I lifted so little (not that I lift much even today) but I made some pretty great progress just using a bench with a leg attachment, a 170 set of weights and some spinlock dumbbells. Although working out at home is convenient and saves time I joined a gym this summer and prefer that to my home weights. Really there is just a lot more I can do in the gym then I could ever do at home even if I bought more weights. Also gyms seem a bit nicer as I usually get distracted by things at home such as tv, the computer, etc.

As long as we stick with it, I don't think 'where' matters. Just keep at it.

I like the fact that at home I can grunt and yell as loud as I want trying to get that last rep up. I think at a nice gym I'd feel stupid screaming in the free weight section.

You have a good point London, sometimes the privacy of home workouts can be really nice, like when it's time to do the bent over cable laterals. Gee I really love having my butt bent over towards the free weight section.

HAHA You people are nuts! I should note I will be joining a gym in the fall. I have a long way to go to max out my freeweights, but I have a small compund machine that I have maxed out. Also I do weighted chair dips, but I'd rather do full dips with a bar and I also have to go to my dad's house for the treadmill and I don't have a spotter at home. So there are advantages and disadvantages to both.

I'll just have to get used to grunting in front of people ;)
