Hi, I have been using FT for about 3 weeks now and have been consistently having difficulty hitting the nutritional goals the program sets for me. I tend to go over the number of fat grams assigned and don't get enough carbs or protein. I also am apparently not eating enough calories.

According to the plan, I need 156 g protein, 312 g carbs and 25 g fat for 2078 kcal. An average day for me looks more like this: 86 g protein 157 g carbs 37 g fat 1314 kcal. I am trying to lose weight and have some difficulty doing this.

I need suggestions about what I can eat that is high
in protein and low in fat. The one thing I know I don't digest well is cottage cheese (trust me on this one!!!). What do you all say? Suggestions?

Thanks,

Jen

Chicken breast, tuna, salmon and throw in a shake made with protein powder.

Excellent ideas - I feel so dopey, uhm, der! I do eat a lot of salmon, but apparently not enough. A day for me looks like this:
breakfast: 1 c. oatmeal, plain
snack: piece of fruit
lunch: turkey sandwich with cheese and mustard
snack: piece of fruit or energy bar if I'm going to the gym
dinner: salmon, sauteed kale, rice pilaf with nuts, raisins

I know I need to cut back on the olive oil I cook with (but I went to cooking school and I love the stuff - wah, pout!), should I eat different snacks, like a broiled chicken breast or protein shakes? I'm really NOT usually this dopey about food!

If you want to seriously increase your muscle (congrats on your acheivements btw) you're going to want to eat more; actually having a couple high protein snacks should take care of that fine. I like to cook chicken strips on my George Foreman grill and keep them in the fridge for snacking, you may have an easier time w/ yogurt instead of cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs, protein bars and shakes. Honestly I wouldn't worry too much about the olive oil; that's a good fat. Good luck to you!
