I just hired a Personal Trainer to help me get fit and healthy. I have been unfit for most of my adult life and its time to get into shape before i turn 40 in 2 1/2 years. I love the weight training and look forward to each session. My question is about soy protein. I bought a powder at GNC and am curious about the benefits using this product. There is so much info that it gets confusing. Should I take it daily? Or only on the days I train? Should I take it before or after I workout? I want to get the most out of this and try to do everything the right way. I have about 50 lbs to lose to get to my goal so i have a long road ahead of me. I am looking for any info that anyone can give to help me on this journey. I am tempted to take over the counter diet pills to help with my cravings (carbs) but i am not a firm believer of pills. Believe me, I have tried alot of them. Just not combined with exercise and proper eating habits. I just took the pills hoping for a miracle! Ya right!I know better now after alot of money spent. If I'm going to spend money on supplements I want to know its going to be beneficial. Thanks for any advice!
Protein powders of any kind are to be used as supplements to help reach your daily protein intake. They are not a weight loss product. Most are using a whey protein powder in some kind of a shake or drink as a post workout meal to be eaten within an hour of your workout. There are mixed comments about the soy protein powders, but I use the soy for other shakes and recipes that are not post workout. Soy has a lot of benefits. There is a recent post here by bb1fit about it. Hope that helps a little.
