I am a little bit overweight and want to get back into shape. I just turned 30 and I am about to start lifting again. I was never serious about it but now I would like to lean up a bit and build mass. What kinds of supplements should I take that would assist me in these goals?

you should take some creatine and whey protein to supplement your diet and then you could take some glutamine if you are trying to get cut. Also cycle some SAN A-100 which works well
First, get your diet, training, and rest schedule in line. Supplements (called that for a reason) won't do jack if those 3 aren't first in place. After that, you can start out with a blended protein and a multi-vitamin/mineral, and add to it as you go.
