Hi

I am new member of the FT program, At 220 lbs and 5'11'' I want to loose some weight (fat) and tone some muscles.

I started going to the Gym about 5 week back and joine FT program about 2 weeks back, beginners level.

My routine is 4 days a week -

5 min. wam up cardio
3 min. stratching
30 min. weight training as per FT program
30 min. cardio - burn around 300 cal. on an avg. per day.

After 5 weeks i do see some change, my tummy reduced by almost 2-3 inches and see some toning at bicepts and triceps but my weight is still 220 lbs !!

can anyone tell me where I may be doing something wrong ?

Thanks and Regards,

If you like the way you're looking and the way you're feeling now, as well as the obvious progress, why do you care about the numbers so much??

The reason is I have a Hight BP problem and doc says its becs I am overweight, I don't know if doing these excersizes will help controlling my BP if I dont reduce my weight...

but you are right there is nothing like feeling good about yourself and I will keep trying.

If you want to lose weight you will probably have to modify your diet. Use this sites nutrition tracker thing to find out what you should be eating and how much.

You aren't necessarily doing anything wrong. When building muscle you don't see the great weight loss you might expect. If you are losing inches then you are obviously losing fat and building muscle. Take your measurements once or twice a month and don't worry about what the scales say. That was hard for me at first, but know I know more about it. As you get better you will probably spend more like an hour doing your weight training. The more muscle you have the more fat you will burn. Hang in there.
