My newest endeavor is fitness modelling. I feel like I've finally come to the point where I could do trade shows ect. as a start, and hopefully print following that. Does anyone out there have any tips about how to get started?

Just work on your poses. Get a friend taking photos of you so you'll learn feeling comfortable (and natural) when taking the shots.
You don't want to do some competitions? That's a good way to make people discover you......

I have to make some money before I can afford to compete. This is a brainstorm that might help me do that. I'm hoping to compete in November, but it all depends on the money.

Immerse yourself in the industry as much as possible. Go to shows, competitions, read mags, etc., and get a feel for it. See what the other women are like. And Nina's right with the poses and photos - work on getting your "look," something that you feel comfortable with. Then, work on a marketing yourself. Create a resume/portfolio, as well as something small that you can hand out to prospects at intitial meetings. Even a website is beneficial.

Amazingly, getting your foot in the door isn't that expensive, though it may sound like it. Remember, your not a pro yet, so just keep your things simple and basic.

Hope that helps. Good luck!!!!

Something that you can consider is getting an agent. They know everything and you can concentrate for yourself. If you look good/and have a good personality, some are going to pay your cover fees.
You are going to do a portfolio of yourself like rev said, everybody in the industry are going to ask for that!
If you want to know more, contact me, I know a little !! about the industry. I could do your portfolio if you live close to me!!
We can help our ft friends!!
