Well I hope I can stick to the schedule...I'm usually really bad about stuff like that but I am even worse at making myself do it without a schedule lol

I'm 22 yo and I'm not in shape at all. I'm really thin and have always been thin so I was never weight obsessed. Now that I am older I realize that exercise isn't about weight it is about feeling healthy!

Recently after a prolonged illness and a loss of 20lbs (I went down to 85lbs), I discovered I can not digest preservatives (I guess it was always that way b/c I remember getting sick as a kid after eating macaroni and cheese but a change in hours of employment when I was 20 led me to eat a lot of instant foods and it was cumulative over a few months until I ended up in the hospital). This has led me to start eating really healthily because I am tired of being sick and so I only eat fresh and natural foods. Unfortunately it is very difficult to gain weight if you have a weak stomach because you can't eat lots of fattening fast food and protein drinks are just too hard on it.

My doc suggested lots and lots of icecream and so far (in 3 months) I have put 10 lbs on! I have remained rather dorment througout the beginning of my weight gaining on purpose b/c I didn't want to burn away the extra calories. Now that I am starting to feel the weight coming on (getting an ass finally and some nice thighs), I am ready to take the next step and start turning that excess fat into muscle.

My plan is to continue eating my extra 500cal/day via the icecream and start exercising and weight training regularly. The nutritionist told me that my eating habits are really good and once I am at a weight I am happy with I should be able to stop eating the icecream and will maintain whatever weight I am at.

My happy weight is 105lbs as that is where I was before I got sick. My goal weight is 115. (I'm 5-4)

I have been diligent with eating and making sure I have extra icecream every day (even though all that extra sugar sure makes me tired sometimes) and I hope freetrainers can take me that extra step to get me started on and sticking to an exercise plan.

hello to everyone and thanks for such a great site!

Hello Abbey and welcome!!

So many people want to loose weight so it's a surprise when somebody finally wants to PUT on weight.......
I don't know your training schedule but limit the cardio and don't train for more than 45mins to one hour three times a week. Don't be afraid of lifting heavy.
I don't want to tell you what to eat since you know that very well already but what about start snacking on small things like nuts or almonds? Lots of calories and good fat + proteins.
Good luck!!!

You're right about the gaining weight thing. I have had the hardest damn time find info about gaining. All I have been able to find is how to BULK UP if you are a guy. This is the first website I have found that focusses on gaining for a healthy body instead of gaining only as a body builder :o)

I am consuming 2500 calories a day (burn approx 2000 as I run around school all day and 500extra/day equals 3500extra/week which is 1pound/week). I know about the nuts but I don't like them lol For a while I was eating peanut butter every day but I am super sick of it! Icecream is the only thing I can eat without it filling my stomach and still want to eat each and every day (I love that stuff!)

I'm not doing any cardio at all actually. I will once I get to my goal weight but for now I am building muscle by doing pushups, crunches, handweights, etc. I know that muscle weighs more but it also actually burns calories faster than fat so I am trying to limit my cardio until I get more muscle.

Thank you both and I look forward to sharing my success in a few months!! :o)

I think you will find that anyone with a little extra weight, to throw around, will be more than happy to offer it out. We will not even charge you to have it. In fact, I bet that most of us would pay you to take it.
