When first starting out is it normal to do weights for the full body rather than a split??? as in upper body one workout then lower body etc.
My personal trainer has put me on full body weights workout yet my FT program splits the weights between upper and lower. Basically any weight lifting is giong to help but which way is the right way???

There is no right per say....if your trainer had you doing full body for two straight months then that would be wrong...in order for continuous growth change is a must.
But for a begining weightlifter I believe that a split routine would be better, it allows for more recovery time for the worked muscle...which you will find you need since this new stimuli has never been felt before.

I've heard it both ways, but it seems a lot of trainers start out beginners on a full body workout to get them used to everything. I don't know richard, 2 months (8wks) seems like a good cycle. I don't usually change my routine until I've done it 8-12 weeks. When it was all new to me I probably stuck to it longer. Now I know better. I would say if working with a trainer, do what they say, then use the ft program when you are ready to venture out on your own.

Listen to your trainer. The full body workout is the way to go if you are just starting out. It keeps you from over-training and allows your muscles to get used to weight training.
