Wondering if I can get some feedback on my routine of eating and lifitng.
I am lifting 5 times a week at nite time, about and 1 hr to 1.5 hrs...I do 3 mornings of cardio, about 20 - 30 minutes each For Eating: Morning is Myoplex Light Shake Snack is Carrots/pear Lunch is Chickenbreast with veggies Preworkout is fruit/protein bar Post workout is Myoplex Light Shake Supplements are Vitamins and started NOX2 My current size is 5'9.5" 196 34w 28years old I still want to drop some fat around my gut (lovehandle trouble...if any has any thoughts on how to attack them I would appreciate it) and keep building in mass. I have been at the gym for 3 mths now and have dropped over 20lbs and 3-4 waist sizes. This is my first time in a gym so I am very happy with where I am at and where I am headed. Just want to know what other people's thougths were on my regiment. Thanks |

Sounds like you are doing great!
I would add some lean protein to that first 'snack', but other than that your plan looks pretty solid. -------------- Challenge + Consistency = Results |

You should have protein with each meal. Starting the day with a myoplex shake may not be the best unless you are dieting. First thing in the morning you are more insulin sensitive, so good time for glycogen storage. In other words, good time to have a good amount of carbs like oatmeal, and have 25-40 gr. of protein with it.
Your snack sucks if you are trying to gain muscle too, you are in a catabolic state by the time you get your next meal. You need protein every 3 hours or so. Have some fibrous veggies with it too. Pre workout ditch the protein bar, these are 99% junk, and have a decent slow burning carb source with some protein. Post workout Myoplex shake??? I would try to use a pure whey with some type of fast carb, even gatorade. This is the one time an elevation of blood sugar may not be too bad. You don't have to spike tremendously, just make sure you get blood sugars back up quickly. And then, even if you stick with that, that at best is recovery only. An hour or 1 1/2 hr. later you should have a quality meal of complex carbs, protein, and fibrous veggies. Protein elicits a thermic response, as does fibrous veggies. Eating more like this at regular intervals will actually up your metabolic rate, and help with those love handles. They are fat, and no exercise can target them. Raising your metabolism by building muscle and diet will do this. Good luck to you. Please fill in your profile so we can better help you. ============ Quoting from ruggedbull: Wondering if I can get some feedback on my routine of eating and lifitng. Thanks for the great feedback guys.
BB1fit...couple questions back at you... For my morning..I am still dieting right now...lovehandle issue...so if not a myoplex shake...oatmeal and what sort of protein would you suggest? I recently read about a protein powder that is tastless and you can mix it into anything to give it protein. I believe it is from Maxium Op....not sure though. As for eating at nite...once I have my shake...I cannot eat anymore...so eating 1.5 hours afterwards...I dont' have the apettite to do it...any suggestions on this? Protein for snacks...meaning like cottage cheese? Thanks |

With your oatmeal (1/2 cup) have 4-5 eggwhites and a couple pieces of turkey bacon for instance.
You can mix your protein powder into anything, just be careful with too much heat when cooking with whey. there are many schools of thought that suggest heating it too much will break it down. Before bed this would be a good time to get some healthy fats like a tbsp. of flax oil, and you could have a 3-4 eggwhite omlette(with omlette veggies. This will digest slowly and help keep metabolism up and out of a catabolic state for all night at the same time. If you are dieting, I would not do cottage cheese. A can of tuna with some fibrous veggies or a salad would be good for you on a diet. Any kind of lean protein and fibrous veggies dieting is a great idea. Protein is thermic, in that it does create a thermic response on digestion, as does fibrous veggies. You may actually have more of a diet response than with a calorie deficit (skipping a meal). Besides, you will always be supplying your body with needed protein, building muscle. This is imparitive to quality dieting, not to mention it looks good. -------------- Great people never want it easier, they just want to be better! Ron |
