I have now been suffereing from Patellar tendonitis for about 8 weeks. During the summer I'm usually training for triathlons and this has affected not only my body, but my self-esteem. I know I'm suppose to stay off of it entirely, (and I do visit my doctor weekly to track my progress with the anti-inflamatories) but I really need to stay active. Being inactive makes me lazy and incredibly irritable. Is there any good exericises out there that I CAN do? Running and biking are out of the question while swimming is ok, but still a bit painful.

Keep lifting upper body. See if your gym has an upper body ergometer. Swim if you can.
Good luck!

Train your hamstrings if it doesn't bother your knee. Try light power lifting deadlifts. They may be bearable. If not try leg curls and other hamstring exercises. Also try to stretch to tolerance. Flexibility is very important.
