Hey, I've seen a lot of threads with everyone asking what the bench for a teenager should be. I just want to let all you guys know that there isn't a "standard". I'm 14, adn proud to say that I bench 220...but I hit the gym real hard and I say I put in enourmous amounts of effort, and in the end it pays off. So I mean you guys need not worry about where you are compared to others. Lifting is huge mental and you should only be competing against yourself in the wieghtroom, although it is fulfilling to lift more than the big guys haha. So just work hard, and best of luck to everyone!

Some lifters are distracted very easily in the gym as well is there many things that can determine the true strength of an individual...a friend walks in they have to chat...they feel tired because they stayed out to late the night before...the girl in the tight outfight is doing straight leg deadlifts...there muscles and tendons are attached at different lengths, there red to white muscle fibers are different...there metabolism is different...and it goes on and on and on........You hit it right on the nose when you said that your self is your only competitor...you can only beat yourself no matter what age you are...although having a partner that pushes you instead of trying to beat you is a good thing to have...well said MLB39
