Hi all,

I've been working out religiously lately and totally changed my diet (2-3mths now, i'm not quite a beginner more of a begin-againer) and i've noticed the inches dropping off BUT only on the top half of my body. I've lost 8 inches off my chest and gained 2inches on my thighs, does that mean that i'm not working my bottom half properly? Would u suggest that i stop working upper body and concentrate on lower body?

Any help would be much appreciated.

thx alot
baby

I wouldn't stop working your upper body...that is not what is putting inches on your thighs. You might want to post your workout and your diet so people can help you more.

hi all,

for the purposes of this 12wk challenge i have to do the workout that is given to me from my personal trainer(apparently) anyways

leg press 160lbs 2x 12 reps
dumbbell step ups 15lbs each hand 2x 12 reps
lat pulldown 60lbs 2x 12 reps
bench press 60lbs 2x 12 reps
shoulder press 30lbs 2x 12 reps

hmmmm that's it for the weights, now i do that 2x/wk, then theres the cardio which consists of 25mins on the x-trainer, lvl 7, which i must admit is a killer (to my unfit self) and 10mins on treadmill, 5min warmup/warmdown on cycle and that's 3x/wk

and that's my pathetic workout. I'm kinda bored with it now but my personal trainer says that i have to stay on it for another 2wks which seems like a lifetime to me and then she'll change the weight or the amount of reps or add in another set.

thx

Just for clarification, you said your legs are 2 inches bigger. After adding this size do you think you added this size in muscle or some fat? Like when I put on 15 pounds, I noticed my arms got bigger, but I also got some more fat on my midsection adn other parts of my body. If your legs are getting very lean adn hard then I don't think you're doing anything wrong.

I lost inches on my upper body before my lower body, but was working them equally. I actually gained an inch on my thighs, but I could feel they were developing a lot of muscle. The next month I lost that inch.

Quoting from babyg25:

Hi all,

I've been working out religiously lately and totally changed my diet (2-3mths now, i'm not quite a beginner more of a begin-againer)haha....but atleast your attempting... =============
You should train the upperbody and lower body equally for a whole body "makeover"...if you're trying to lose weight then shoot for 8-15 rep slow and controlled reps, for 3 sets...if trying to maintain just do 8-12 reps of regular lifting....trying to gain do 2-8 reps controlled on the way down and exploding up on the positive....do this for both upper body and lower body...I think you would benefit by spitting up and doing All Upper Body on Monday; Cardio on Tuesday; All Lower Body on Wednesday; Cardio on Thursday; Upper Body on Friday and Lower Body on Sunday. Take Tuesday's cardio rather easy to save energy for Legs on Wednesday....also mind your diet, this above stuff combined should help you to lose all off that body fat where it may be...
