I was watching the bodybuilding special on MTV and one of the guys lifting in the gym was doing the dumbbell press laying across a ball. I seen this ball at the sports store but never paid attention to what it was used for. Is it better to do lifting or should I stick with the bench?

Doing exercises on a ball helps develop your abs since you are constantly stabilizing yourself on it.

Have not tried it myself, but looks like it could be challenging if one were to go heavy.

Very funny I was watching it too! Good show! yes I agree with rpacheco, going heavy on this could be a little tough. Also, I believe supports the lower back. I use the ball for abs and push ups, thats it!~

Because it is wobbly it is great for your stabilizer muscles no matter what move you are doing with it. I think women use them more than men. It is a lot easier on your back than the floor for crunches. It can be used for all kinds of squats and glute exercises too.
