Are protein shakes really any good for you? I don't know much about protein and what's good or bad. Anyone wanna help? According to my Nutrition Program I need 120 g of protein a day. Does anyone have any ideas? I do not eat eggs or red meat and I only eat fish once in awhile. I know you all probably hate picky eaters... sorry. Can anyone give me some ideas? It would be greatly appreciated!!!

Protein shakes are at their best two times basically. The first is post training, when you want a "quick" source of protein to refuel right after training. (feed the muscle you just worked). The other time is just to help you get your required amount of protein in, if you have trouble eating that much. Besides, a nice frosty chocolate shake is a nice break from chicken breasts after a while. Whole foods are best though, with the exception of post workout. Another nice thing about protein, it is thermic food, meaning your body has to work to digest it(break it down to amino acids), and that in itself can result in a greater loss than just a calorie deficit alone. Here is a good site for protein recipes that are very tasty, and you can use your own brand. http://www.bodyandfitness.com/Information/Fitness/protein.htm
