Have any of you heard of Musclenow.com. it claims supplements are waste of money. With proper diet & exercise you can achieve better gains. I myself am trying hard to gain muscle weight. But I just started going to the gym for half a year now. I never exercised growing up and now i am 24. I see minimal results here and there. Im 6'4" 170pounds dont have the time to cook 6 meals a day let alone eat them.

I trained for a year without any supplements and had great results. I now use whey protein and L-glutamine supplements right after every workout. I can get my post-workout protein in much faster with a shake than I can going home every night to cook egg whites. I think the key is using the right supplements properly.

lithiosis, I am 6'4", and was 174 pounds for most of my life. I weigh 195 lbs now, at age 24 like yourself.

I decided to change my lifestyle when I saw my flat stomach disapear. In two months I've gained an inch and a half on my chest, 3/4 of an inch on my long arms, and my stomach has lost 2 inches. I can see the top row of my abs clearly, and have obliques showing as well. I have chest muscles for the first time in my life, and extremely well doveloped tris! My back is gaining size as well. My girlfriend has loved the changes, even though she said she loved the old me too.

I've been taking in a bit less than 1g per pound of body weight, with the help of soy protein during the day, and whey protien pre and post workout. I have a glass of milk with ISOPURE strawberry in the morning along with my 4 eggs (4 egg whites, one egg yolk). Some mornings I'll have cereal, but most of the time not.

I've been watching my calories and fat, but generally eating MORE than previously. I just eat food that is better for me.

Work hard, watch your fat, eat lots of protein rich foods, and work hard some more.

I think MOST supplements are a waste - not all. Protein supplements are almost a necessity. Others like nighttime protein, 'Myo-crap', and creatine serum (read: flavored syrup) are totally worthless. Right now, the only supps I'm on are creatine and a multivitamin/multimineral; I would have some protein on hand, but I ran out of it and money at the same time. I train like a madman (that's what my wife says) and eat every chance I get. I'm up to 203lbs and in the last month I've set 3 new personal records: 415 on deadlift, 405 squat, and 360 bench. Some supplementation is necessary in many cases. But spending a crazy amount of hard-earned cash on worthless supplements is ridiculous in my opinion.

I think that it is important, though, to stress the need for certain extra supplements during the lean out period of a pre contest diet. You need to make up for the certain vitamins, fats, and calcium that may be lacking in your diet as you eliminate dairy products, some fruits, and fats.
