In the question and answer section inside the first page was a picture of Arnold in a bathing suit, pre-T3. He looked...uh, flabby. Which always makes me feel better to see that idols are only human too. It said that he worked out 2x a day 6 days a week to get back in shape for T3. Now according to the advice here that is waaaaay overtraining, so can someone help me understand that? Is it only overtraining for an amateur or is it that the more you train the more you need to train. I sometimes wonder if I would get there faster if I trained more, especially when I see articles like that.

He is a special case as that was how he trained before and is what worked for him....

Many work out twice a day, 6-7 days a week, and it has nothing to do with over training.
It only becomes overtraining when one does it at such an intensity that they dont allow for enough recovery.

I also have heard, from a pretty reliable source, that that pic of Arnold was a fake. I mean, look at his shoulder girdle/chest - no mass. There is no way he could go from looking like that, to what he had in T3 in that short of time; I don't care what training he had, especially being in his mid-50s. He didn't even train 2x/day, 6 days a week when he was in his prime as a Mr O!

I agree with Michael. Consider, too, that Arnold is seen by the public all the time for his endorsements of afterschool programs, etc, and now he's under the microscope because of his bid for governor. He has an image to maintain; chances are he wouldn't let himself get flabby in the first place.

OK, thanks. It was the training schedule I was more interested in, it seemed like a lot to me. As for the picture, it could have been altered or it could have just been his posture. With his family, political and charity obligations I'm sure he doesn't spend as much time in the gym as he used too.
