I have seen all kinds of info about steak and chicken, but nothing about turkey. One of my favorite lunch meals is peppered turkey on whole grain bread, I know it has protein, but does anyone know some more facts of how good it is for you, compared to chicken?

Turkey breast is a very good source of lean protein, just as good as chicken.

Chicken and turkey are close to identical. One word here, if it is not "real" turkey, the protein content is not too good, needless to say the preservatives and additives too. Processed lunch meats are very inferior protein sources. Real turkey is outstanding. Opt for real sliced turkey if you can.

When I buy sliced turkey at the deli (in Safeway) I ask the clerk to either read me the nutrition facts or show me the label. Then I jot them down on the wrapper of whatever I'm buying. That way I don't have to try and figure it out when I get home.

I buy minced turkey and make burgers on the bbq.
Make sure you get the butcher to mince the breast for you.

It is cheap and easy to buy a frozen turkey breast, thaw it in the fridge a few days and then roast it. Then you can slice it and weigh it all at once and bag it in ready-to-eat portions. It turns out to be cheaper than deli-turkey (and prolly less sodium) and it sure smells like heaven when it is rosating. The hard part is cleaning upp the drool all over the house! :)

A little discipline at the table and at the gym might help reduce that belly!
