im 16, 6'2", 240 lb. I dont max out on squat cuz i dont want to hurt my self or bust my knees. But i rep out 325 or 335 for a good 3, 4 or maybe 5 on one of them good days. Those r nice deep parallel reps. Im goin to college for shot put next year and the schools recruitin me wanna know how much i max on squat. How much do you gusy think i could max for a nice one rep?

Dude I'm 6'1" and weigh about 238-240 if you are doing reps of 3-5 at 335 with good form get yourself a spotter or two and go for an all out one rep max thats the only way you are going to truely know what you can do. If your worries about your knees use wraps and make sure you have a good quality belt. I would like to guess you could do about 405-425 but thats only a guess?!? Let us know what you find out. Good luck! (My last one rep max was 535)

If you are doing them correctly, and if you have progressed regularly with good training to keep your connective tissue and auxiallry muscles strong, you will not hurt yourself or bust your knees.
The key to powerlifting is not just hoisting the heaviest weight possible, and to hell with everything else. It lies in your form and your training. I have stated on many occasions that a powerlifter's lift (and his training for it) is as tight and as precise as a bodybuilder's posing routine. If it isn't, the lift ain't happenin'. If you need a 1 RM, then train properly for it, plan for it, and then do it; don't just jump into it. That's the quickest way to get a trip to the hospital.

be very very careful maxing on squates u can really hurt ur self i just stick to reps....i really don't liek maxing a whole lot cause all it is is ur ego 9 times out of 10. i mean ever 3 ro 4 months ok but just do reps and when the reps r too easy add 10 lbs thats what i do....i wne from a 1rep max or 365 in high school. now i do reps..225x12.315x10,350x8,375x6,405x4....since i work out by myself can't realy go as heavy as i like but hey my old max is now liek my 7 rep!

You are a thrower. You will eventually need to do some triples, doubles, and singles. Just be smart about it. Use good form. Make sure the weight you are putting on the bar is a realistic weight. If you hit a near max single and it feels good then add 5-10 lbs. Perform the squats in a safety rack with the safety catches just a little below parallel and use 3 spotters. One in the back, and one on each side.
