I have just joined and I got my schedule of what I am suppose to do each day, however I am not too sure on the weight. I have been workiong out f or three months already but have been told by my boyfrind and feel as if I am getting bulky instead of lean. I also do not really like free weights, but will attempt to do them. I do not know what weight to do on each body part and wath is considered too much, etc. Also, on the days where I do not want to work a certain body part, is it okay to just 30 minutes of cardio?

Do you workout with your boyfriend? There was a post a few months back called 'Working out with your women' that was helpful. I think it was in the men's forum.

Thanks for the replies. I am doing 6 reps of 6 for my current resistance workout. On my legs it varies from 90-100 lbs. Is that too much? And on my upper half I am doing 40lbs. If I am not bulking up, then how in the heck can I lose the extra layer of fat. I am having difficulty losing some off my midsection (esp the area to the rigt and left of my belly button). I do not feel over weight and I know that I am in the "in shape category of % of body fat, but I am struggling with what is right for me in resistance training, so i can see results. Does cardio have a lot to do with it? I am doing like 20-30 minutes daily, sometimes an hour if I do not do weights. Sorry for all the questions. I hate talking to the trainers at the gym.

Mostly it will be dietary. What/when do you eat?

If you have been doing the same routine/weight for a long time it might be time to change it all around. And like asimmer said-how's your nutrition plan?

my eating I think is alright. I have a protein drink everyday either after working out or for a meal. I try to eat fruit and healthy things when I go out to eat with family/friends. Have any suggestions? I know a trainer told me that losing fat/getting fit is 30% gym and 70% eating. Everything nowadays is packaged and full of carbs or sodium. any suggestions would be great
