A TKD(targeted ketogenic diet) diet is a diet that teaches your body basically to use fat for fuel, as is a CKD (cyclical ketogenic diet). Of the 2, the TKD is probably best for bodybuilding purposes. With the TKD, you actually target your carbs. You are allowed say 50 carbs per day, and you target them around your workout, thus this is better for workouts and recovery. The rest of the day you eat NO carbs, protein and fat only. The CKD is alot like it, except you eat no carbs at all during the week, and on the weekend you have "refeeds". This is bascially a carb gorge session of 2 days, where you are allowed anything from pizza on, lots of carbs. The idea is this replenishes glycogen stores for the week(though it doesn't really do it). You will lose fat with either diet. The reason your body will burn fat for fuel in these diets is this, protein is only 42% likely to be stored as glycogen, and fats only 10% likely if at all. Whereas carbs are basically 100% availble to be stored as fat 100% of the time. The ratio of fat to protein you use is about 2 to 1 (fat to protein). This is due to the above numbers.
