I have been on a 6 month hiatus from the gym, gained 8-9 lbs since then. Last week, for 3 days, was my first week back. This weekend was pretty tough for me, recovery wise (overdid my lats/shoulders bit) . I work 12hr overnight shift and only sleep for 5 hours during this time. So for 21 hours you can imagine my eating habits aren't great...well, in general...talk about serious overnight munchies (even though I had a Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner. Any suggestions?

No matter what kind of shift you have you need to eat about 6 small meals/snacks of good quality food. Figure out your daily caloric need and divide by 6, then use that number as a guide for making up your meals. My husband works 12 hour shifts with no breaks. He takes 5 or 6 meals with him and manages to eat them every 2-3 hours. Things like tuna, whole wheat crackers and an apple-chicken, brown rice and broccoli-string cheese sticks and a piece of fruit, etc. It takes pre-planning, but it can be done.

yeah bring the food with you and have it all set up for 5 to 6 meals, and if you cant keep the munchies at bay try fiber with coffee.(no table sugar and no sugar in coffee)
