Just wondering if anyone would happen to know an affective boxing workout plan.

good question, I too am curious about this as I've heard it's a great muscle building, toning, arm stengthening task.
Gonna be getting heavy bag, and a speed bag and some gloves soon. |

I use to be a kickboxing instructor and used a heavy bag and 14 oz. boxing gloves. Boxing is an excellent way to build muscles in your arms and the workouts actually work your entire body building strength. Boxing engages many muscles in your body and suprisingly to me, the abs. I got my six pack abs from working the heavy bag. Anyway, there are some great videos out there that will give you step by step workouts. You may purchase them from the National Association of Professional Martial Artists. They have the best. I'm sorry, I don't know the website address. I can get that for you and get back to you. I can even get you a telephone number, but don't have it right here with me today.

Thanks rebekah for that information and insight :D
I'm gonna be picking up some books on training for some football exercises so I'll see if there are any of those videos too! |

u should have a heavy bag at the least. no gloves toughin up your hands for fights outside the ring(better than boxing). read about on movements and punches and blocking and parrying and sparring and try to find someone who is also interested to train with. practice everything you learned to perfection then mold all that into your style(everyone has their own style) and spar with your partner when he perfects his sparring. but when you spar you should have gloves. choose a number of reps and aim for it when punchin the bag. then switch hands and to the same. always b on the move like the bag will hit you back and you want to b able to dodge his throws. hope this helps.-------------- free your mind -Logger |

Good morning echo....I got the phone number for NAPMA. It is 1-800-973-6734. They have by far the best instruction materials on boxing. And...I agree with what logger said. I have a heavy bag. And...no gloves do toughen the hands,it's easier, however, to get hurt, but they do provide extra weight that helps build muscles. Sparring is a harder workout because a person moves, a bag doesn't. Have fun! It's my favorite form of exercise and gives great results.

Bags don't hit back. Find a friend or friends who are willing to get beat down, but on some 14oz and get together twice a week. Box for twenties minutes and your body will feel let it's gotten the best work out ever. I used to box every thursday and it would take atleast two days for my body to recover. It's a heavy work out, fun too. Unfortunately my friends stopped when I started getting good.
