Next week I intend to give up protein powder and start taking a creatine powder instead. Can anybody give me just a little info on creatine?
Is it worth taking?
How effective is it?
Does it have any nasty side-effects (like stomach bloating)?
and finally do I still keep up the intake of proteins (steamed chicken, turkey, tinned tuna)?
Thanks!!!

EMUBOY, protien intake is a necessity, it is the basic building block for growing muscle, you should always maintain at least a ratio of 1gm of protien to 1lb of body weight daily in about 5 or 6 small meals. It is also very beneficial to have an after workout protien shake that consists of 1/4 your body weight(ex. 160lbs= 40gms protien). As for as creatine goes I have been advised to wait until you have hit a plateau before you start taking it, it is mainly just to give you more strength, hence, making it easier to lift more weight. Once your at that point the protien shake & creatine can be taken together. I have accumulated most of this info from posts I have made on this site, good luck in your training & I encourage anyone to correct my post if I have missinformed EMUBOY. Just trying to be helpful.

The protein powder I'm taking at the moment leaves me feeling bloated, very uncomfortable and I've gained about 5 or 6lbs in since I started using this powder about a week n' half ago and is not down to the diet as I'm very strict on that.
I will take heed of what you've said and strive to keep up the protein intake but without the powder.
Thanks for the advice!!!

Bad move to give up protien in favor of creatine. Amino acids are the building blocks of our muscles. If you do not get enough than there is no point to working out. Creatine is an outstanding supplement, but if you have to choose from getting at least 1 gram a day of protein or getting your creatine then opt for the protein. Creaine will do nothing without proper protein.
