A few days ago on my chest/bis day, I began experiencing an intense aching pain in my left bicep. I could barely lift my left arm, and because of that I had to cut my routine off after the first two exercises. It went away an hour or so later, and I'm going to test it out today. What causes that weakening ache? (ps - this was 3 days after a rugby match and I probably hadnt totally recovered yet)

I'll bump this one to keep it active. Could be several things and if it continues, might be advisable to get medical attention. I've had torn ligaments and the pain does not go away after a couple of hours. It sounds like it might possibly be the remnants from a bruise from your rugby match. Let us know how your test workout goes.

Over use, brusing, strained tendons and ligaments are just a few. rest it ice it and give it a few days. If not better in a week at least go see a doc

Thanks for your input. I did a shoulder/tri workout yesterday, and the pain was still there, just not nearly as intense as before. I got through the whole workout, and it feels like it's getting better. I'm going to back off for a few days and avoid any bicep exercises.

You could also have a muscle spasm that is trapping a nerve and causing the pain, try massaging your boceps, shoulder and upper traps
